The knowledge Vanessa
shares is full of personal experience and professional credentials.
She is a nationally certified Strength & Conditioning coach, and is
certified by the American Fitness Association of America, the American
College of Sports Medicine, and the Cancer Exercise Institute.
Vanessa serves as a Personal Trainer, and Strength Coach, focusing on all
populations from the very young to the young at heart.
Vanessa was the first time recipient of the
Dupont Lycra "Inspirational Moves" Award, presented at the Women of the
Year in Sports Awards Ceremony, in Atlanta, Georgia. The award was
established ‘to celebrate an inspirational individual who has contributed
significantly to women's athletic achievement’.
Vanessa was one of only 13 recipients
chosen to participate in "Transplanting Miracles," a black and white
national photo essay that was unveiled in New York City and scheduled to
tour every major American city. The Exhibit portrays inspirational
messages about the successes and realities of organ transplantation.
In addition to her professional and
national certifications as fitness professional, she also has an advanced
degree as a Paralegal and holds a Bachelors degree in Social Services.
Vanessa has served her community for the last ten years as a Victim
advocate for her local Police department. Vanessa has been a Board member
to the National kidney foundation for 15 years. She volunteered her
expertise for Transplant Chronicles for over ten years; motivating and
inspiring people to take control over their lives though fitness and
wellness articles.
A two-time kidney transplant recipient, And
recent cancer survivor, Vanessa has developed her own personal formula for
achieving and maintaining wellness. Today she travels across the country
sharing her motivational message of the vital importance, and the dramatic
benefits that exercise contributes to ones over all health and wellbeing.
"1 passionately believe that exercise was
paramount to my recovery process and to the quality of my life today.
Determination, desire and commitment to achieve specific goals empowers us
to become stronger not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as
well," explains Vanessa.
As a national speaker, Vanessa has been
invited to present her program
"Moving into Wellness" at patient
and professional conferences both nationally and internationally.
Her passion to motivate others is also
communicated through print, radio, TV and videos. In 2004 Vanessa’s
inspiring story was profiled in the book Lessons in Faith & Courage, (Bob
Violino) She has contributed significantly to numerous publications, and
continues to write for numerous publications. Her articles motivate and
inspire the reader to achieve wellness in their lives through energizing
first-person stories, helpful tips and down-to-earth fitness advice.
